Its over; the last day was easily the best. Just before work started, we walked around to view the exhibits, and the drawings at the CG Conference were pretty cool. In all, I guess it was a valuable experience (note i did not say enjoyable) as I did learn a few things in that short period of time.
One thing i learnt, or managed to verify, was that i AM a freak. One friend once said I was weird, and how true.. My co-workers (and other staff that i saw) were unbelievably friendly, so much so that i was a little taken aback. People who have never met before can bond in a matter of minutes. Not just people like me, i mean people of other ages and background. Indeed I have been a frog in the well for too long, to not have noticed how out of sync i am with the rest of the world. I think of "oddball", or "a piece of the jigsaw that doesnt fit", or "the remainder of the equation".. Well you get the idea.
So actually I am not just bad at making friends. No need to be modest here, I actually excel at making enemies. Just on my first day, I got into one of the bus driver's black books. Colourful and flowerly language not heard since 2 years ago came flying at me. And unlike some people, those who hate me dont come to make up and say lets be friends after a few days.
Anyway, without going into details, I pissed the guy off. The next day, my supervisor said I was in the wrong, but i still disagree. Maybe I am wrong, for the guy is actually a noble individual who sacrifices himself for society by portraying himself as a class 1 a-hole. As Hal from Malcolm in the Middle said, "If we (in this case him) are not the common enemy for the rest of the world to unite against, they would most probably pick on some other hapless individual, probably from a minority group."
So yeah, thats another lesson. Work sucks. Enjoy studying while you can, no matter how unbelievable that sounds. Seven hours of pointless work (we guided people who are too lazy to read the signs for themselves) in a 2nd hand smoke environment with people ignoring you and getting fake smiles all round. How enriching and fulfilling! Some people getting paid (more) to (SIT and) surf net (in an air conditioned) environment may be inclined to whine that their work sucks too. True, but somehow i think mine sucks more.
Anyway, my reason for taking up such a short term assignment was that school is reopening soon and I want to do relief teaching! Of course, no one believes that I can do it. They all think that I will be eaten alive. While that is a HUGE possibility, I still have to do it, to see if I am cut out for this stuff. And there is only one way to find out.

haha, my work actually don't sucks, just think maybe the boss is. Hope i can hold out for the next month..
My sister has a friend doing full-time teaching. Maybe I can ask her how it is like.
Don't think you'll get eaten though, but on the other hand... But never mind, relief teaching is still ok.
Relief teaching sounds fun...but i think i will only teach them how to play and flung their exams....=D
OF COURSE you'll get eaten ... even i'll get eaten too, especially if it's some neighborhood school.
But then no matter what it's still a good experience and how you make the most out of a bad situation is most crucial.
