I spy..

I was in my little hole in the well yesterday when the waters suddenly shimmered and before I knew it, i was glimpsing into a whole new world. Music flowed from instruments i had never seen, instruments which looked so simple, yet able to produce tune after melodious tune. Their human wielders held them tightly, playing with verve; while dancers swayed slowly or pumped their bodies as the speed of the music dictated. I have no musical talent or ability, nor am i able to appreciate it, but at that point, i really wished i could be up there, able to perform with them.

i admire the creativity of those who can create music and write scores, because i dont think there is any equation to doing stuff like that. so that is totally beyond my reach.

How special it is, that people are able to use materials around them to craft various instruments that provide song and dance to the masses. i could never have done something like that, not even in ten lifetimes.

Two instruments that caught my eye were the ponglang and the angklung. The ponglang is a vertical wooden xylophone. All i saw was a row of wooden tubes but the sounds that came out were delightful and i loved that one segment of the song came solely from the ponglang.

The angklung is something more special; each angklung produces only one basic note and one player plays only one angklung by shaking. (Apparently i was looking at pros, for they had two in each hand.) Thus, melody will never be complete without a number of musicians. Teamwork would be the key, and in here, every member of the team would be vital, unlike many other teams out there.. I still have no idea how it works as well. I was staring at it for ages and never figured it out.

i forgot to mention that sl was one of the best dancers out there, but then again everyone already knows that!
