i am still rather upset at the straits times report a few sundays ago where they blamed a spate of deaths and crime on gaming. how could they actually put speculation down as fact?
Dr Allan Ooi's death was at first blamed on warcraft, then on poker. It was only after his suicide note was released online that we discovered the true reason: the SAF
Well.. aside from being the govt mouthpiece, i didnt expect such shoddy reporting from them
On another note, it seems like the SAF would have just let something else be the scapegoat and keep mum if the suicide note had not been released, even when they knew why he had gone AWOL all along. Would you do that? Indirectly cause someone's death and then let someone else take the blame?
could it be another form of the bystander effect, where everyone in the corporation expects someone else to clear the air, or could it be that they just cant be bothered?
