i was waiting impatiently at the zi char stall when i realized that the cooks were already working very fast. in fact, i thought that they were ruthlessly efficient. they were churning out dish after dish, only pausing to give the wok a quick scrub in between. i could never be that fast even in the lab, not to mention the kitchen.
i only mention this because just after that, the "Buzzing Cashiers" show on ch8 also showed a similar situation, just that the cook was instead working too slow. This is just wrong, since the stall is at a bus interchange. Aside from food, they are selling convenience, so it would be fatal to be slow.
so yes.. if u want to be a cook, you have to be fast. either that, or go to someplace where life is slower. you know which place i have in mind!
