so freakin charmin

i am a sucker for stuff related to history, which is why the national library, fort canning and luang prabang get me excited. and also these links. 1 2

the other day i was on the bus when i heard some old men in front of me give a running commentary on the places we passed: Oh, there was a nice stall here last time, it was always so crowded... There was a fire here!... The gahmen built this road to divide the kampung into two.. it may seem like mundane details but somehow i really enjoyed listening to them.

finally to my point, i cannot fathom why i like history. because most of this stuff probably serves no practical purpose. at all. i would guess, similar to the green fanatics, i have a overly romanticized notion of history, as they have of mother nature (trees are nice, mosquitoes are not). this explanation still does not hit the spot; there seems to be something more. maybe i just like stories.

it is this lack of the ability to express myself that sets me back alot in life
