During lunch, a colleague mentioned that Qin Shi Huang buried many of his family and followers together with him when he died, so that he could be waited on and protected in the afterlife. This was also practiced by the ancient Egyptian rulers. I wanted to add in that the Dothraki blood brothers also kill themselves (willingly and joyfully) after their king dies, but then I realized no one would understand what on earth I was talking about.
Later on, when they were carrying in files to fill the empty bookshelves, I was thinking why not put some head-on-a-pike instead.
I am halfway through Book 1 and so far so good. Just hope that it doesn’t become too draggy like so many good tv shows so far.
Winter is coming.
