turn off the lights

i remember when i was younger, i was highly suspicious of little tech knick-knacks such as electric car windows.  i couldnt understand how the windows could be opened in the case of an emergency and the power was out.

today, we experienced an extended power trip.  its was ok that the air-con and computer screens went dead, but what was more scary was that the auto doors and elevators couldnt work.  on a more personal level, so were the auto-flush and auto-taps in the toilet.  yes, there was quite a pong.

in aeroplanes, there are numerous fail-safes in case something goes wrong.  its abit odd that that there arent back-ups for the simple things, like doors and taps.  should something have happened, alot of things could have gone wrong. maybe thats why i am abit of a nature lover, since there is less reliance on artificial constructs - but then again, i really love my samsung s3.

and there is always the option of smashing the doors, if all else fails.
