be it from my facebook feed or from the occasional meet-up, i find myself leading increasingly divergent lives from my former classmates. to think that 10-15 years ago we led almost similar lives, going through the same 8-10 hours of lessons for 5 days a week. Now, we are on different career trajectories in vastly different parts of society.
the people we encounter, the daily routines we have, the 1,001 voices we listen to each day are all so different. some are earning big bucks in the financial sector, some are frequent travelers, everyone leading colourful and exciting lives. sometimes i do wonder of the "what-ifs", and start on my day-dreams, but ultimately we are who we are, where we are.
my life isnt too shabby. i may not be a top-notch engineer or ingenious entrepreneur or crime-busting policeman, but i serve society in my way, though i admit i could be doing more. the battles i fight are not in the boardroom or for the bottom line, but to better people's lives and, increasingly, for their hearts and minds.
with yesterday being easter sunday, a time to reflect and be grateful for all things good, i found myself very happy and lucky to born here, with food and shelter and a rather good education. more importantly, by sheer luck i also found the most important person in my life who has brought me so much smiles and laughter.
i may not be the quickest or the smartest but i do feel that i am pretty darn lucky.
