my mother bought a manual juicer, the kind you impale half of an orange onto and then squeeze the crap out of it, while making stupid sounding war cries. GAHHH GAHH RAHH
it only costs $1.50 and doesnt use any electricity. for me i would say the squishing of each orange generates $1 of utility because it is that fun, like an arcade game, plus i get to eat all the pulp later on
compare this with an electric juicer which would cost more than $10 and consumes infinitely more electricity. The electric juicer is definitely more efficient (in terms of time). suppose i can save 1 min for each orange, a very conservative estimate, i would save $0.10 worth of labour, going by a wage of $6/hr.
going by an lca, i dont have a good idea but i would definitely say that the manual juicer uses less material and is more likely to last longer, since it is just a single piece of "thing"
so now i am extremely glad with my nerdalysis and i can safely say that the manual juicer is freaking awesome!
