meanings

there is always wisdom is every corner, even in supposedly mindless entertainment. there is this hk drama which i just finished watching, about this group of actresses slugging it out to be the best and most popular, and in doing so do all sorts of unethical things.

at the end, one of the actresses asks another, "why do you still do this? why cant you wake up?" the meaning is that, is fame and glory all that important? of course, hk shows have a duty to preach family values (and the wonder of chinese kung fu since they are always fighting), but there is something to it.

a very smart friend recently remarked that he was trying to figure out the meaning of life. it got me thinking about the same too. is being perceived to have the most productive/hardworking/smart the most important thing in life? to be get into positions of power just so that you can put others down and control them? to eat well and play everyday?

the universe is so big and we are so insignificant. so why are we here? i mean as a species and as an individual. if humans were created, for what purpose? why am i here, and what was my purpose? i do know a miro purpose, but i thoroughly fail to see the bigger picture. as systems thinking goes, we are supposed to be able to see the situation from different perspectives and boundaries :p
