Never Gonna Give You Up

Another attacking display from Liverpool which yielded zilch for the attackers and ultimately a devastating, gut-wrenching defeat. For the better part of the first 80 minutes, in particular the 20 minutes leading up to the goal, they laid siege to the West Brom defence, hitting the post, the bar and having many openings but few shots on target. Those that were, were tame and easy to deal with, even with Ben Foster in poor shape and spilling many balls.

I wonder why Dirk Kuyt is still being played when Bellers offers so much more. Bellamy is just as hardworking as Kuyt, if not more, and brings so much more to the attack. Anyhow, i was feeling very dejected but thinking back, the scoreline is a fair reflection of the game and Liverpool ultimately deserved to lose.

1. Failure to take their chances Maxi, Suarez and Carroll were all guilty of poor finishing, failing to hit the target from just 5 yards out. Clear shot on goal, you have no excuse. At times, the West Brom midfield was non-existent and it was like a shooting gallery. However, the accuracy was abysmal. Throw in some horrible defending from Glen Johnson and you're gone.

2. No fighting spirit The goal always looked like it was coming. When it did come, it came at the wrong end, against the run of play. For a few minutes, the attack continued, but it eventually petered out. Only Bellamy was launching attack after attack, but the others had already given up. The mental strength is not there, and seeing how they certainly had the ability and chances to at least claw back a draw; as a fan, it was very disappointing to watch.

There you have it, two life lessons from 90+5 minutes of football. The first one is particularly important, just as a game of football has only 90 or so minutes, 人生有几个十年?We have to take our chances or regret later on. Also, never give up, even when the odds are against you. Even if you do lose eventually, you can say proudly that you fought the good fight, you ran the race and can take a well deserved break. Its not about being foolhardy and refusing to accept reality, its about playing with the cards that you are dealt with and not folding once you get a bad hand.

HWAITING!
