the green chalet

its interesting how we have been doing the same thing with the same people each year for the past six years and yet there is always something new that comes with every experience.

the past two weeks have been quite eye opening and also rather insightful into the facts of life. interesting to know how different everyone is, not only in family background but also what they do in their free time - the person who crafted the seven core values certainly phrased it well to suit his needs. loyalty to country is more well defined as compared to plain loyalty.

i also realized that it is really not easy to be a good leader. at the leadership summit, many had suggestions on how their leaders could improve, and based on my own observations, the leader can do carry out his duties right but if he fails to have his own judgement and protect his subordinates, he doesnt quite make the cut as well. therefore, we can criticize at will but if we are to do the job, it is difficult to say that we can do it well, or just do it better. in any organisation, it is also important to assess the feelings on the ground. a leader who simply takes what he sees as the reality has failed since he has only considered his own perspective. that said, i think it is not easy (and also very time consuming) to have a really accurate picture of what is going on. on our part, we have to not only do our job right, but also make sure that others see that we do our job right. might sound rather sad, but i think its a fact of life.

rambling on, one must have the hunger in order to succeed. its just like football, you have to want to win, you have to want the ball and take control. fighting!
