Great Expectations

People have wants. I want this, why cant i have that. Especially if others have something that we do not! Today marks the end of a 9 day break from home. 9 days ago, i was terribly excited! A flight to a beach getaway. Free flow food and drinks! Teppanyaki, sashimi, and burger, followed by cocktails in the lounge and room-service at night :) hopefully HBO or even Europa league. Sadly we do not always get what we want. To say that i was disappointed is an understatement. Sadness, anger (at the very poor and clueless airline customer service) were the feelings of the day. Why cant i have a decent break after working so hard? Why cant i have some things the way i want it? Now, its back to work and the sight of the mountains of emails even before work begins, is daunting itself on its own. Things seldom turn out the way we want, or plan for. That is why we always need to play according to the cards we are dealt with, no matter how unfair it may seem to be. Thinking about it further, i am lucky enough i have the luxury to plan for a getaway, when others do not even have enough to plan for their next meal. It is indeed a bitter pill to swallow but life goes on. Who knows, maybe things will turn out for the better. Maybe we will be back next year.
